The Forks Clinic

Free midwifery care, 44 miles closer.

Forks may be famous for Twilight, but families here face something far less romantic: the nearest maternity care is more than 44 miles away, often through hard weather on harder roads. Surrounded by the Olympic rainforest and home to the Quileute, Hoh, and Makah communities, Forks deserves better. So we brought the care to Forks — free.

Why it matters

The postpartum year shouldn’t be lonely.

One of the greatest needs in rural communities is postpartum care — many families receive little to no support after their baby is born. With Washington State now recognizing the importance of care for up to twelve months after birth, our clinic is committed to walking with mothers through the entire postpartum year.

You are not meant to navigate pregnancy, birth, and postpartum alone.

Lauren Reaume Suggs

Women's Health Advocate & Student Midwife

Lauren is a local advocate for women's health and a student midwife attending the Mercy In Action College of Midwifery. Raised in a small-town community, she understands the unique challenges families face when access to maternity care is limited.

A homeschooling mother living in what she believes may be one of the most beautiful places on earth, Lauren is deeply connected to the Forks community. After completing her training, she plans to keep serving as a community midwife in Forks and the surrounding rural areas.
